hmmmm I may need some by tomorrow morning. It is official.......today opened the "blowing of the coat" season for Zoe.

I have birds fistfighting (well as best as they can LOL) in my back yard as to who is going to win the first placed prize of a beakful of soft winter hair from my dog. And of course in all Zoeness.......she is having nothing of it, and as she is running around wildly after the thieving birds.....a stream of hair is following her.

I still laugh when I think back to the first time she blew her coat, (oh how naive I was then) I rushed her to the vet because she had this huge pink bald spot on her back flank. All sorts of nastiness was running through my head, mange, parasites, allergies....oh me oh my!! and I was panicing more and more because the more you touched to spot.....more hair fell out. The poor vet (at my expense more ways than one!!) starting laughing, he said "your dog is begining to shed her winter coat." I was adamant...."shedding, she is loosing gigantic clumps of hair when you touch her. She is itching and rubbing on everything. this has to be more that shedding winter fur!!" "my cats shed daily, there must be something wrong with her!!".

He said "Don't worry....this is only the beginning (with a funny little grin on his face)" Welcome the noobie dog owner to the fun of owning a mixed breed which both dog breeds literally explode the fur off of themselves!!!

It was mind boggling the first year to watch this "amazing" event. She was shrinking before my eyes!! I had one lady comment if I had stopped feeding my dog because she was so skinny. I didn't say anything , just reached down and pulled out a perfectly intact lump of hair ( Zoe was smiling, must have been an itchy spot).......All I got was a stunned look and best wishes with dealing with that!

Here i went from a dog that did not lose ONE hair for almost nine months ( I knew it was too good to be true) to a dog that was part sheep but did not need shearing!! Even my neighbour giggled every time she was outside, little Zoe hair tornadoes everywhere!!

I guess I am looking for prayers and wishes for exta patience. I dont mind a bit of hair in my food, extra protein, but hubby is a neat freak!! Looks like my vacuum cleaner is going to be one triple duty.....need to hire someone for that...LOL. And so begins the first day of about a month where the furs flies!!
