YOU'D have to wonder whether a panic-stricken US Federal Reserve, already under heavy fire for mismanaging the economy, might react to last Friday's shocking payroll report by slashing interest rates before the next scheduled Federal Open Markets Committee (FOMC) meeting on March 18. And if it did, what might the quantum be - 50, 75 or perhaps even 100 basis points?
