    Default Learning foreign language

I am now in 4th and last grade of high school (gymnasium) in Slovenia. This school year I will have a graduation from 5 subjects among them English and I have some troubles. We now wrote some pre-graduation exams and although they are not for marks I all felt them all. I think my problem is that I haven't enough vocabulary and I am also too slow at reading. I would like to give me some advice how to undertake that most correctly and as possible as less time taking because I have 4 other subjets to do. For example shall I read Harry Potter and focus and transle every new word or just read and hope I will learn new words spontaniously.

On reading part of exam we have 6 texts form news like BBC or The Independent 3 you have to understand and answer questions and at 3 there is grammar.

Hoping to get some good advices.

Reading is the best way to solve a lot of problems, as Killer said it helps with spelling; it can help with writer's block and helps to elaborate ones vocabulary.... so i think reading is the way to go. Good Luck

    Hello everyone,

Here im sharing about difficulties to learn languages,

A lot of other languages are phonetic you pronounce them the way you spell them so the spelling in English is pretty difficult. Also, the "th" sound is not in every other language, so you have to learn to make that sound. Then think about explaining the pronunciation of words "ladder", "latter", "lather", to a non native English speaker..

I can only give the advice to read a lot and watch DVD's in english/their original sound.

It worked for me pretty well when I was learning english in school.

Excellent list! I've learned more from this forum in about 2 days than I have at any other forum community.

Everyone speaks English, right? Well, certainly not everyone speaks English. According to the CIA World Fact Book, only 5.6 % of the world's total population speaks English as a primary language. That number doubles when people who speak English as a second or third language are counted. By conservative estimates, that means that well over four-fifths of the world's population does not speak English.
