Exams come and go, students pass and fail. What sets apart those that pass from those that fail? Studying. Studying is incredibly important in test and exams. If you dont study correctly it could affect your life drasticly. This article is written to help you know what to do and how to do it.
Step 1: Manage your time
one of the major reasons why people fail even after studying is because they dont manage their time effectively. Remember one thing, your education has to come first. Before soccer training, before piano lessons, before hanging out with friends or even working. Mattering on the year that your in the amount of time studying will differ. If you want to have good marks year 10 - 11 should be studying for atleast 10 - 20 hours a week. I reccomend around 15 hours.
Before planning to get an A+ set yourself a realistic mark. This is your goal and you must work your hardest to achieve it. If you dont have enough time to achieve this goal, spare more time by trying to cut out afterschool activities. Make a timetable for how long each day you will be studying.
Step 2: Take notes
When in class take as many notes as possible without losing concentration on what the teacher is saying. When you have a free chance, read over them and make sure you understand them. If you dont try doing some work and looking at some examples relating to that subject.
When taking notes make sure you understand them and whenever possible use abbreviations. This will make it faster and easier to catch up. Whenever your having trouble, remember to never be afraid to ask questions.
Step 3: Study the hardest subject first and in a Quiet place
When studying in a quiet place it is much easier to not lose concentration and get disturbed. If you cant have peace and quiet in your home, try going to the library. They have many books and its always quiet.
Studying the hardest subject first will make it easier as you go along and less confusing. The harder subjects are the ones you need to have the energy to study for. This is why you must study them first.
Step 4: Homework, homework, homework
You have to do your homework. This is a great way to remember what your studying and practice it. Homework is a huge part of studying as you need practice to make perfect. Never think you dont have to do it because you are studying.
A great way to effectively remember what you have done in your homework is to write down the question and then the answer. This will force you to remember what your answering.
step 5: Never procrastinate
The dictionary defines procrastinating as - postpone doing what one should be doing; "He did not want to write the letter and procrastinated for days" - Never do this as you'll never get work done. This is a major problem in many students who hate to study. Do not make this you.
Conclusion
By using all these steps im sure you'll do fine in that test or exam. Remember never to lose sight of your destination and to keep on trying no matter how hard it gets. This is what makes up your life and no matter what you say it IS important.
