Packing tips and tricks I have learned over the years

I have done this ever since my high school German teacher advised....

Take all your old socks and underwear you would be throwing away anyway, wear it and then throw it away as you go. I have done this on numerous trips (UK, South Africa, Europe) and it always leaves me with that bit of extra room in my pack at the end of the trip, of course to be filled up with all sorts of travel souvenirs!

Other packing stuff.....

On trips I usually pack 1-2 pairs of pants and/or shorts. Pants that double as shorts (the zip off legs) are a good space saver. A few t-shirts and a long sleeve T and a sweatshirt/zip up hoodie, etc. And for me I never go anywhere without a sun hat.

2 pair of shoes- and this time I am planning on bringing an extra pair of old trainers to throw away after I play in the water somewhere.......

LOTS of flim. Develop the photos while on holiday if you want also & send them home (or carry)

Magazines are good reading material cos you can throw as you go. I have brought favorite books along, and when done reading, left at the hostel for someone else to pick up/read

all good tips, Emma - I tend to do the same...also, rollling your clothes helps get more in and means they are less creased, if that is an issue for you.
