Child actress Dakota Fanning will appear in a controversial new movie featuring paedophile scenes.

War of the Worlds star Dakota, 12, has signed up to appear in Hounddog.

The screenplay calls for Fanning's character to be raped in one explicit scene and to appear naked or clad only in "underpants" in several other horrifying moments.

this is the dumbest thing anyones ever done, i would never want to see her in such movie. and this is'nt the only complain, this is all over the net and news.

i thinks its just wrong.

Relax. She's a brilliant actress for her age, and she hasn't been pimped out the way Brooke Shields was at that age. These are very general descriptions of the scenes, and no one knows if the scenes will be done using computer graphics or other manipulative strategies. It's a movie... she wouldn't be raped in real life, and she won't appear naked on screen. That's illegal.

Why isn't there an outcry for the millions of children who actually DO get raped? This is a movie. It's a movie which will probably tackle a very serious subject that no one is willing to discuss, and would rather hide under a rug and pretend as if it doesn't happen. Kudos to Dakota Fanning for having the balls that most of you obviously don't.

In my mind, if she does this well, it'll open her up for even more amazing opportunities in the future. She has the potential to become one of the greatest actresses of all time. She shouldn't give up a role which is 'controversial', because a bunch of hypocritical naive people don't want to face the fact that pedophilia actually does occur.

Film is the most widely recognized media nowadays. People don't read newspapers or books. They don't watch the news. If a movie can teach everyone about something serious that is occurring every single day, then I applaud them for it.

i must agree with you on all said there.

i will not lose any respect for Dakota Fanning as this movie will show people what really goes on in the real world. i think by Dakota Fanning playing the role mite make more viewer watch and learn something.

i at the age i am will learn something from this.

and i and a huge fan of Dakota Fanning, she is my idol, i own every movie she made.

read that in the newspapers. i don't think it's that controversial. after all it's done for a serious matter. it's not for fun. taboo or not, it happens in real life. so yeah.

Ok i have thought hard on this and I'm actually curious to see how Dakota does in the role, because I think she's unnaturally gifted for her age... A lot of people dislike her and I find that to be really sad. I think some of them think "She can't act that way, she's a CHILD!"

Well, she's an exceptionally good actress for her age, and more than that, when I've seen her in interviews and on talk shows, I've really been impressed with her poise, intelligence and grace. And she was that mature before she was 12! It's amazing.

I can totally understand the concern that a girl that age shouldn't even be involved in such subject matter, but I feel Dakota can handle it and not come out of it all screwed up.
