Hilary Duff Opens Up About Weight Issues

Hilary Duff has been busy promoting her new album, Dignity, prompting an interview that led to talks about weight issues and life with her mother and sister.

Going back two years, Hilary lost a noticeable amount of weight. The singer-actress had claimed at the time that the change in physique was simply a result of healthier eating habits.

Fast-forward to the present, and the singer-actress, 19, is reneging on her past remarks, admitting that the change was caused by pressure (she felt) from the media to get thin.

“I did get skinny,” Duff told Britain’s Mail. “I’ve felt that pressure like everyone else in my position. When a newspaper comes out that says ‘Duff Puff – she must have gained 15 pounds’ or something like that, how would any normal person react?”

She continued, “It’s so mean, but everyone keeps buying that stuff and talking about it, so it’s not going to go away.”

For the interview, Hilary was on a trip to Europe to promote her new album Dignity. Since that time, she has returned to the house she shares with her sister Haylie, 22.

Just recently, the Duff sisters found a little more freedom, as their mother, Susan, moved out and down the road (against the wishes of Hilary).

“It was her idea,” Duff says. “She said, ‘I want to give you guys more freedom,’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t want that. I want you here.’ So I call her every day and I still always consult her before any big decision.”
