well Stat your opinion to someone that is able to move the forums around, not in the thread, you should no better as a mod to PM underworld to ask a question, like why ask it in a post should a thread get moved, i mean get a brain.

I couldn't agree more with this, and it's something I've been hoping for for years.

    1. A student who knows s/he won't have to write a final at the end of the year if a certain grade is achieved will be more motivated to show more dedication and work ethic throughout the year, which is likely to consolidate the material and create an all-in-all better student with all-in-all better marks.

    2. In the real world, we're not going to have to apply chapters and chapters of information, by memory, under a 1-3 hour time constraint. You ask any doctor, for example (just using this profession because I think everyone would agree that they'd want their cardiovascular surgeon knowing his shit), and he'll tell you that he's kept all his textbooks/notes and refers to them everyday.

    3. I'm an A+ student. Throughout the semester I get 4.0s (85+) in usually all subjects. In the last month alone (and I say alone for a reason. Ask Slider how much shit I've had this year), I've had the following due:

    November 20: 9% 5-page research paper due.

    November 27: 9% 5-page research paper due.

November 28: 30% 12-page research term paper due.

    December 3: 30% 12-page research term paper due, 2 2.5% 2-page reaction papers due.

December 4: 40% 15-page research paper due, 25% ***ulative exam, 9% 5-page research paper due

    December 5: 10% 5-page research paper due, 25% ***ulative exam, 2 2.5% 2-page reaction papers due.

    December 6: 35% 25-page lab report due.

    December 11: ***ulative exam, 40%

December 18 (yes, tomorrow...why am I on here? lol): ***ulative exam, 40%

That's a LOT of shit. That's WHILE classes are still going on. Furthermore, UofT doesn't believe in giving us a reading week before finals start...so a lot of us have only about a day to study per exam.

Guess what? My marks have dropped about 20% because of how crammed this stuff is. Do I know the material any less? No. In fact, I consider myself to be an expert of the material, but my marks won't show it, and I'm not the only student who feels this way. It's unfair how hard we work throughout the year, only to have everything dumped on us in the end and impossible demands placed on us; inevitably lowering our marks by at least 10%.

****, I'm bitter. 4.5 credits until I graduate, thank God.

It would be totally unfair because , depending on how long the exams are and the way there organised, but in Aus ( im doing my final year at school) we have 3 hour exams for each of our 6 subjects. Under that sought of pressure alot of students crack. So why would it be fair for someone to go through that testing because there not as 'academic" as some others. .... ???
