To begin with Mp3 stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, basically it rips a track and compresses it into the chosen bit rate. So the people who said that they would stick with thier mp3 are speaking garbage.

Ipods are toss. There are far superior hard disk based mp3 players out there that have better features, substantually more battery life and more robust than an ipod.

Personally i will stick with my solid state 1GB mp3 player as i am able run and do sports while listening to music. Plus the capacity is the right size as i dont need to spend most my journey looking for a track to play, like i would with a 20 od GB player.

I have a 60 GB video iPod and a 2nd generation iPod shuffle. I love them. Anyhoo....

You can put music from CDs and other music libraries onto your iPod as long as you use a compatible format. I always rip my music as mp3 because it's pretty universal. If you have any wma files you'll have to convert them to mp3 first.

Also, don't get fooled into thinking you have to buy music from iTunes in order to have album art with the songs. It's actually quite easy to add album art to the songs. You can either get the music from allmusic.com or Amazon.com or a similar site and drag them into iTunes, or you can do what I did. If you rip your music via Windows Media Player then the album art files are already saved on your computer. You just have to unhide them. In the My Music folder, go to TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > VIEW. Then select "SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS" and uncheck "HIDE PROTECTED SYSTEM OPERATING FILES (RECOMMENDED)" This will give you access to the album art. Just drag it into the appropriate song files in iTunes. When you're done, you'll probably want to change the settings back to rehide the system files.

I just bought the new mini-Shuffle. It's quite nice and compact and cute... but they've yet to make a compatible stereo system that I can use that has speakers. I'm waiting for both that and some type of car kit.

If they have made something, I've yet to see it. So if anyone can help, it'd be greatly appreciated...

I have a new mini shuffle, and I just bought some computer speakers to hook it to. As far as the car goes, you could just use a cassette converter like you would use for a CD player.

The salesman at Best Buy didn't know what the **** I was talking about when I mentioned my requests. I'll try one of the cassette docks that I saw.
