Band assess damage to gear

Supersonic British electro-rockers MUSE are counting the cost of a flash flood that hit a German festival - the Hurricane Festival - just as the trio were taking the stage.

The band's audio desk, amps and other expensive equipment became water-logged within the ten minutes the freak storm took to deliver 20mm of rain to the Scheesel festival. It was later abandoned.

To us, the fear of electrocution is all part of the experience of attending a MUSE gig, but security decided the danger was too great.

A source is reported as saying, "It wasn't safe for anyone. Muse were hanging out backstage, gearing up to brave the elements totally unaware that things were quite so dangerous."

The band's new album, Black Holes and Revelations, a schizophrenic retro rock frenzy, is about to be released in Australia. Impatient MUSE fans can hear it now via nme.com
