Education costs in Australia?

Could anyone please clarify?. I have just learnt that I have to pay my sons school fees in NSW, but have read that no fees apply in Queensland?. As I am a lone parent going it alone Im trying to gain a clear picture of expenses before trying for a job in a certain area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In Aus/NSW, the school fees are around $5,000 per child according to a migration agent who lives there.
