Default should pit bulls be band in your country?

Should Pitbulls be band? This breed of Dog is the 3rd most popular dog in the world, yet this breed of dog is the number 1 killer of all k-9's in the world.

This is the arguement U.S.A congress is purposing now, after a most recent dog attack that killed a family. This has been one of the numerous accounts that have happened this year alone.

The arguement is this, are the dogs at fault or are the owners.

In United Kingdom, there is a law called the pitbull act, claiming these dogs as nothing more than "Flesh eatters" should we have the same thing here?

    Should they be band?

Whats your thoughts on this breed?

we are talking about pure bread pit bulls

    only......

i do belive that it takes the owner as well to raise the dog but it comes down to tjat that breed is made for killing and that is in its genes.

The fact that there are nice pitbulls out there tells you that this breed is NOT necessarily an aggressive breed of dog. Perhaps its the type of owner who generally owns pitbulls and reinforces/teaches aggressive behaviour that is the problem.

As well, we only know what the news tells us. As objective as we'd like to think it is, the news is not objective at all. Objective news would be BORING to hear! They have to attract listeners by appealing to their interests somehow; this includes sensational information and SELECTING what to report and what not to report. Can you imagine how many other breeds of dogs attack? They're not going to report a toy poodle lashing out at a baby because, well, everyone loves toy poodles! But if a pitbull attacks...well damnnn, get the cameras, because it's just another one to add to the list! As well, going back to the sensationalizing of information...usually the story is twisted to fit our interests. Don't believe everything you hear, folks. That last pitbull who attacked a child...well, maybe the child was taunting/threatening the animal. They're animals, after all, and if they feel that their safety is at risk, they will attack. This is normal and does not mean the dog is aggressive.

So no, I do not think they should be banned, unless they are bred SPECIFICALLY to be aggressive. But I do think it's the owners who should be held responsible 99.9% of the time for their dogs" behaviours. We humans are the ones with the enlarged prefrontal cortices...not dogs.
